That Piercing Gaze…

Kurt Ostlund will start filming his recurring role later this month on Season 2 of TNT’s Snowpiercer.

Snowpiercer nabbed an early Season 2 renewal for 2020, and will stay at TNT after a move to TBS was considered.

Snowpiercer has been on the dramatic backlog of TNT for nearly four years now. The series – adapting French future-dystopian comic book Le Transperceneige and subsequent 2013 Snowpiercer film starring Chris Evans – was saddled with delays over creative issues, leading to a setback-inducing showrunner swap. However, while the show has yet to premiere, Season 2 is already in the works.

The mythology of Snowpiercer takes place amongst the wintry desolation of a far-future inside the constantly chugging titular track-looping locomotive, in which remnants of society live in refuge from the snow-packed Earth. However, the crux of the drama tends to center on the caste divisions of the train and the recognizable follies of human nature. The TV adaptation – at least, in Season 1 – is headlined by Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs.

Showrunner/executive-producer Graeme Manson (Orphan Black) will be back for Season 2.

Rowan Blanchard (Girl Meets World) has been elevated to series regular for Snowpiercer Season 2 as well as Steven Ogg (The Walking Dead) who has also been promoted

In addition to Connelly and Diggs, season one of Snowpiercer stars Alison Wright , Mickey Sumner, Katie McGuinness, Susan Park, Lena Hall, Iddo Goldberg, Annalise Basso, Roberto Urbina, Sheila Vand and Jaylin Fletcher.

Snowpiercer is produced by Tomorrow Studios (a joint venture between Marty Adelstein and ITV Studios), along with CJ Entertainment, who produced the original film. The series is executive produced by Tomorrow Studios’ Marty Adelstein (Cowboy Bebop, Hanna, Prison Break) and Becky Clements (Good Behavior, Aquarius, Last Man Standing); showrunner Graeme Manson (Orphan Black), who wrote the first episode; director James Hawes (The Alienist, Black Mirror); Matthew O’Connor (Continuum, Tin Man); Scott Derrickson (Sinister, Doctor Strange), and the original film’s producers Bong Joon Ho, Miky Lee, Tae-sung Jeong, Park Chan-wook, Lee Tae-hun and Dooho Choi.

Makalo’s Not Afraid!

Makalo Roskams will be filming his first role on Episode #202/203 of Netflix’s mini series ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor‘ next month.

Just over a year ago, “The Haunting of Hill House” premiered on Netflix, giving us the chilling story of the Crain family and their twisted relationship with the show’s central, spooky dwelling.

The retelling of Shirley Jackson’s 1959 novel of the same name, The Haunting of Hill House’s first season averaged a 93 percent fresh Tomatometer rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and earned a 91 percent approval rating from the audience, becoming one of the streamer’s most-binged shows of that year.

Those numbers made it no surprise when, in February, Netflix announced that it had officially greenlit another season of the series to once again be helmed by Flanagan.

Announced alongside the reveal that Flanagan and fellow executive producer Trevor Macy had signed a multi-year deal with Netflix, Season 2 of the series will step away from the Season 1 source material and see the series transform into an anthology. The upcoming season will instead focus on Henry James’ classic novella The Turn of the Screw, which tells the story of a young governess who is hired to nanny two children at an old country mansion in England called Bly, which she comes to expect is haunted.

Along with Flanagan returning to direct, Bly Manor will also reunite much of Hill House’s cast, including Victoria Pedretti (to play a governess named Dani), Oliver Jackson-Cohen (to play a “charming young man” named Peter), Kate Siegel, Henry Thomas, and Catherine Parker.

Second Season is currently set for an October 2020 release.

Jag Takes A Stand!

Jag Arneja has finished filming a role in the upcoming CBS All Access series: RADIO NOWHERE AKA THE STAND.

The upcoming TV adaptation of Stephen King’s epic novel The Stand is beginning production — and as often happens right around this point in a project’s development, someone has sussed out the working title for the project. Working titles, used to keep the general public in the dark about what is filming when movies have to shoot on location (among other reasons), tend to have some minor, often thematic, tie to the project itself but are not usually close to the actual title. In this case, the working title is “Radio Nowhere,” and it has a kind of strange tie to King and The Stand.

The Stand” presents an apocalyptic vision of a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil. The fate of mankind rests on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old other Mother Abagail (Whoopi Goldberg) and a handful of survivors. The streaming platform announced in August that the prolific author himself will write the final episode of the series, providing a “new coda” that goes beyond the book.

Radio Nowhere” was the debut single from Bruce Springsteen’s 2007 album Magic. The song features a repeating lyric that asks “is there anybody alive out there?” While that might feel right at home in the world of The Stand, where a deadly virus has killed much of the world’s population, it was already a familiar refrain to Springsteen fans years before “Radio Nowhere” was written, as it is a phrase he uses from the stage to get the crowd worked up. In terms of The Stand specifically, King’s novel opens with a stanza from Springsteen’sJungleland“, the song that closes out his seminal album Born to Run.

James Marsden, Whoopi Goldberg, Amber Heard

The Stand was ordered to series back in January by CBS All Access. The series has a 10-episode order, with Josh Boone (Fault In Our Stars) and Ben Cavell (SEAL Team) overseeing the series. The pair co-wrote this long-form adaptation of the novel, and Boone will direct. Jill Killington and Owen King will produce.

The 10-episode series is set to air in 2020 and stars Whoopi Goldberg, James Marsden, Jovan Adepo, and Amber Heard.

Our Comic Book Superhero!

Ruairi Macdonald has booked a role on Episode #110 of CW’s, Batwoman.

Batwoman is an American superhero television series developed by Caroline Dries and Greg Berlanti. It is based on the DC Comics character Batwoman, a costumed crime-fighter created by Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka, Mark Waid, and Keith Giffen, and is set in the Arrowverse, sharing continuity with the other television series of the universe.

The series premiered on The CW on October 6, 2019. The series has had a strong start in the ratings averaging 1.5 million viewers across its first three episodes, making it the television network’s second most-watched series.

Kate Kane (Rose) never planned to be Gotham’s new vigilante. Three years after Batman mysteriously disappeared, Gotham is a city in despair. Without the Caped Crusader, the Gotham City Police Department was overrun and outgunned by criminal gangs. Enter Jacob Kane (Scott) and his military-grade Crows Private Security, which now protects the city with omnipresent firepower and militia. Years before, Jacob’s first wife and daughter were killed in the crossfire of Gotham crime. He sent his only surviving daughter, Kate Kane, away from Gotham for her safety. After a dishonorable discharge from military school and years of brutal survival training, Kate returns home when the Alice in Wonderland gang targets her father and his security firm, by kidnapping his best Crow officer Sophie Moore (Tandy).
