The CW
confirmed back in April that Supernatural would be returning for a season 14.

Supernatural doesn’t show any signs of slowing down any time soon after The CW’s president Mark Pedowitz said: “That show will go on as long as it keeps going, the boys [stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles] keep doing it and the ratings keep holding.”

Supernatural is by far, the longest-running series in the history of The CW (or predecessor channel The WB). The veteran series continues to innovate, showing no real reason to be put out to serial television pasture. In fact, showrunners Robert Singer and Andrew Dabb have seemingly teased some Supernatural Season 14 plans. The show will even celebrate its 300th episode this year.

Supernatural is an American dark fantasy television series created by Eric Kripke. It was first broadcast on September 13, 2005, on The WB, and subsequently became part of successor The CW’s lineup. Starring Jared Padalecki as Sam Winchester and Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester, the series follows the two brothers as they hunt demons, ghosts, monsters, and other supernatural beings. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television, in association with Wonderland Sound and Vision. Along with Kripke, executive producers have been McGRobert SingerPhil SgricciaSera GambleJeremy CarverJohn ShibanBen Edlund and Adam Glass. Former executive producer and director Kim Manners died of lung cancer during production of the fourth season.

The series is filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia and surrounding areas and was in development for nearly ten years, as creator Kripke spent several years unsuccessfully pitching it. The pilot was viewed by an estimated 5.69 million viewers, and the ratings of the first four episodes prompted The WB to pick up the series for a full season. Originally, Kripke planned the series for three seasons but later expanded it to five. The fifth season concluded the series’ main story line, and Kripke departed the series as showrunner. The series has continued on for several more seasons with new showrunners, including Sera Gamble, Jeremy Carver, Robert Singer and Andrew Dabb. With its eleventh season, Supernatural became the longest-running American live-action fantasy TV series. On April 2, 2018.

The CW renewed the series for a fourteenth season, which is set to premiere on October 11, 2018, and will consist of 20 episodes.

It is set in the Arrowverse, sharing continuity with the other television series of the universe. The season is produced by Berlanti ProductionsWarner Bros. FREAKY FRIDAY ON THE RED CARPET!!!

Disney Channel’s Freaky Friday movie celebrated with a red carpet film premiere July 30. You may have seen Freaky Friday before, but never like this – the new movie is also a musical!

Marlowe Percival (AKA Sarah Willey) and Jag Arneja will star in the new version of Freaky Friday.

Directed by Steve Carr, the music-driven contemporary body-swap comedy also stars Cozi Zuehlsdorff and Heidi Blickenstaff, as well as Ricky HeAlex DesertJason MaybaumKahyun KimDara ReneeJennifer Laporte and Isaiah Lehtinen.

There are no surprises when it comes to “Freaky Friday”. The message behind the plot is fairly straightforward: mother and daughter constantly butt heads before literally walking a day in each other’s shoes and come to understand and appreciate one another in a way they’ve never done so before.

It’s a well-loved story, with its roots in a 1972 children’s book of the same name before being adapted into a film by Disney in 1976 starring Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster. Since then, it’s been remade by Disney as a TV movie in 1995, a feature film in 2003 with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, and a stage musical in 2016.

The latest remake – a TV movie for the Disney Channel scheduled to air August 10 – is based closely off of the musical, which was developed two years ago by Disney Theatrical Productions and debuted in Virginia before moving to the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego in 2017. It even shares a lead in Broadway star Heidi Blickenstaff, who reprises her role as Katherine, Ellie’s perfectionist mother who’s in the midst of planning her own wedding. Ellie (played by Cozi Zuehlsdorff), in the meantime, is obsessed with participating in an upcoming all-night scavenger hunt, which is set to take place the same night as her mother’s rehearsal dinner.

Freaky Friday” is timeless, and this new adaptation is a chance for Disney to tell that story with its new efforts in mind to accurately represent and reflect today’s youth.
Seeing it on the stage and seeing our demo – the 10-year-old kids in the audience – and how they reacted and feeling it in a theater, we [Disney Channel executives] walked out of it saying ‘We have to make this work as a movie,’” Adam Bonnett, executive vice president of original programming for Disney Channel, said.

Bonnett added that at the heart of every Disney Channel production – whether it’s a remake or an original – is the core belief that children and young adults want shows that are emotionally honest to experiences they can relate to. And in productions where songs and lyrics can convey emotions in a more obvious and direct way, adapting the “Freaky Friday” stage musical was a no-brainer for Disney.

“When I talk about the honesty of ‘Freaky Friday,’ there’s a little more of it in the stage musical because it was created and produced for a very broad audience – not just for kids, but adults as well,” Bonnett said. “I think that’s one of the things audiences walk away from our movie is really feeling that we tackle things that we may have been afraid to tackle in the past, but because of the way you dealt with it, it felt real and appropriate.”

In this new “Freaky Friday” adaptation, the musical stays true to the fun and energetic moods created in the past by original productions like “High School Musical” (in one scene, students in biology class perform a dance number while wielding iPads), but the film really hits an emotional crescendo during a song about the pain and hurt behind why parents lie to their kids.

It’s a moment, Bonnett said, that shows how carefully Disney Channel has always paid attention to it’s viewers.

“Kids today want to taste a lot of different flavors. They want a full course meal that isn’t just meat and potatoes, but has different flavors and different colors. You’re underestimating the audience if you just want to give them one thing,” he said. “We’re working hard to give them a diversity of content. I think kids really need to look at a show and say ‘That’s me up there! I’m about to go through that’ and to really see themselves in characters is so important.”

The film will premiere August 10 on Disney Channel.

The Good Actress!

Max Chadburn has finished filming a role on Episode #202 of The Good Doctor – an American medical-drama television series based on the 2013 award-winning South Korean series of the same name. The show is produced by Sony Pictures Television and ABC Studios.

Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore), a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome, relocates from a quiet country life to join the prestigious St. Bonaventure hospital’s surgical unit. Alone in the world and unable to personally connect with those around him, his only advocate, Dr. Aaron Glassman (Richard Schiff), challenges the skepticism and prejudices of the hospital’s board and staff when he brings him in to join the team. Shaun will need to work harder than he ever has before, as he navigates his new environment and relationships to prove to his colleagues that his extraordinary medical gifts will save lives.

The freshman drama is the first recurring TV role for 26-year-old leading man Freddie Highmore since he wrapped up work on his Psychoprequel Bates Motel last year.

The Good Doctor ended its first season with Dr. Glassman finding out there is a chance for him to beat his brain tumour, but his and Shaun’s jobs at the hospital are in very serious jeopardy. The feel-good medical drama was an immediate hit for ABC last fall and easily scored a sophomore season to allow viewers to get to know the autistic and brilliant Dr. Shaun Murphy even better. Over the course of the first 18 episodes, fans not only got to see how Shaun became a surgical resident, but how the team at the hospital became a sort of family, if still a dysfunctional one.

“This series has broken records in the competitive television landscape. And is thrilled to announce that Dr. Shaun Murphy will be back for another season.”

The Good Doctor Season 2 premieres Monday, September 24 at 10 PM ET on ABC.
