Halloween’s On Hold…

Kurt Ostlund has booked a role on MGM’s upcoming feature film, 10-31 which has unfortunately been postponed indefinitely!

The script is based on a story by Laurie Ashbourne and screen story by Kathy Charles, and will be produced by Eli Roth and Roger Birnbaum’s Arts District Entertainment, alongside John Zaozirny’s Bellevue Productions. Michael Besman will serve as executive producer on behalf of Arts District Entertainment.

“Very rarely do you get a script that grabs you by the throat, holds you until the last page, and gives you nightmares after,” Roth said. “I don’t want to reveal too much, but this is one of the best, scariest premises for a horror film that I have read in years. Slasher films are my favorite subgenre of horror, and this script has all the ingredients of a new classic. We are very excited to make this film with Orion, who we have a long relationship with, and who understand what it takes to make a no holds barred scary movie.”

The horror thriller follows a young woman who takes her niece and nephew trick-or-treating and discovers a note inside a candy wrapper that says there’s a killer loose on her block.

It’s a smart, elevated genre for a wide audience,” Birnbaum said. “The writing has originality, style, elegance, and most of all, real tension and scares. We look forward to a great production with Orion.”

Dan Kagan will oversee production on behalf of Orion Pictures.

Mystery Solved!

Junnicia Lagoutin has just finished filming a recurring role on Episode #117 and #118 of CW’s series, ‘Nancy Drew.

Nancy Drew is an American mystery drama television series based on the titular character of a mystery book series that debuted on October 9, 2019. It is the third Nancy Drew television series, following The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries (1977–1979) and a 1995 Canadian-American version.

In October 2019, The CW picked up the series for a full season of 22 episodes.

Nancy Drew” is a contemporary spin on the beloved book series by Carolyn Keene. The series, from CBS Television Studios and Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire, stars Kennedy McMann as the intrepid young sleuth.

The show is set in the summer after Nancy’s high school graduation, with the 18-year-old poised to leave her hometown for college. However, when a family tragedy holds her back another year, she finds herself embroiled in a ghostly murder investigation – and along the way, uncovers secrets that run deeper than she ever imagined. Since this is decidedly different from any version of Nancy Drew that’s come before, prepare for The CW’s new mystery with intel straight from the showrunners and star about what you should expect from the first season. One of the biggest differences between the show and the source material is Nancy’s age and maturity. “We definitely wanted to update it by making Nancy into a real 20-year-old, post-high school girl in terms of where she was in her life and relationships,” executive producer Stephanie Savage tells EW.

“It’s a really awesome time for women right now in Hollywood and I think she is such an exceptional role model for our audience to have,” McMann says. “It’s the perfect time to see this very commanding person who is taking control and taking responsibility for her actions and not being afraid to go for what she really wants and allows herself to be driven by her desires as opposed to what she thinks she ought to be. She doesn’t focus on impressing the people around her. She’s focusing on herself and that’s a really wonderful and important thing to teach, especially younger girls.”

The series stars:
• Kennedy McMann as Nancy Drew, a brilliant former teenage detective whose sense of self used to come from solving mysteries, but who finds herself reluctantly drawn into a homicide case connecting to her family.
• Leah Lewis as Georgia “George” Fan, Nancy’s old nemesis from high school and her boss at the local diner, The Bayside Claw
• Maddison Jaizani as Bess Marvin, a rich city girl with a mysterious past who works as a waitress with Nancy at The Bayside Claw
• Tunji Kasim as Ned “Nick” Nickerson, a former teenage convict and football player who now runs an auto repair shop. He is Nancy’s secret boyfriend
• Alex Saxon as Ace, the zen and amiable dishwasher/cook at The Bayside Claw with a secret to hide
• Alvina August as Det. Karen Hart, an investigator with the Horseshoe Bay police department who is dating Nancy’s father Carson
• Riley Smith as Ryan Hudson, a handsome and affluent socialite who is the husband of murder victim Tiffany Hudson
• Scott Wolf as Carson Drew, a criminal defense attorney and Nancy’s widowed father, whose attempts to connect with Nancy since her mother’s death have failed.

In January 2020, The CW renewed the series for a second season.

Nancy Drew airs Wednesdays on The CW.

Another “Hit” For Chance!

Chance Hurstfield has starting filming a lead role alongside Mel Gibson in upcoming feature film, Fatman.

The filmmakers call it a “rowdy Santa tale” about an unorthodox Santa Claus who is targeted by a hitman hired by a neglected and precocious 12-year-old after he receives a lump of coal in his stocking.

In addition to having the young protagonist embodied by Chance Hurstfield (‘A Million Little Things’, ‘Good Boys’), this dark comedy has confirmed Mel Gibson as Santa Claus and Walton Goggins as his enemy, Skinnyman, an eccentric hitman who works in a toy store.

It was written and will be directed by brothers Ian and Eshom Nelms, whose credits include Small Town Crime, Waffle Street and Lost On Purpose. The film will be produced by Brandon James of Rough House, Nadine de Barros of Fortitude and Lisa Wolofsky of Skywolf. Executive producers include James’ Rough House partners David Gordon Green, Danny McBride and Jody Hill.

“This rowdy Santa tale is a film we’ve been excited to make for some time and we’re thrilled to have equally passionate partners in Rough House and Fortitude who carry the same fire!” said Eshom and Ian Nelms.

Mel Gibson was last seen in the movie “Daddy’s Home 2” and “Dragged Across Concrete”. He previously received a best director Oscar nomination in 2017 for “Hacksaw Ridge”.

Madeleine Arthur reprises her role as “Christine”, BFF to Lara Jean (Lana Condor) in the sequel.

Chris is the quirky independent queen of Adler High, who is prone to wearing great hats, bantering with Lara Jean’s dad Daniel (Sex and the City heartthrob John Corbett), and sparring with her queen bee cousin Gen (Emilija Baranac).

Chris has her own journey in P.S. I Still Love You — and even more in store with the mysterious upcoming finale of the Boys trilogy, Always and Forever, Lara Jean. The threequel doesn’t have an official release date yet, but IMDb does suggest we can expect the triology’s conclusion sometime in 2020.

IN “PS I STILL LOVE YOU” Lara Jean (Lana Condor) and Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo) are officially together as a couple and it’s not until John Ambrose (Jordan Fisher), a recipient of one of Lara Jean’s love letters, enters the picture that things get complicated.

The new couple suddenly find themselves wrapped up in a love triangle. John’s return shakes up Lara Jean, who wonders whether she could love two boys at once.

“I think John offers something different than Peter does,” author and executive producer Jenny Han told Variety. “John has a more quiet confidence and is more cerebral, whereas Peter is much more face forward and what you see is what you get.”

A Northern Adventure!

Darcy Fehr has booked a role in upcoming feature film, ‘Ice Road‘ starring Liam Neeson.

The Ice Road is an upcoming thriller starring AFM regular Liam Neeson. The film, which is being directed by Jonathan Hensleigh (The Punisher, Kill the Irishman) from his own screenplay, is set in the far northern regions of Canada and features Neeson playing a big-rig driver who must lead an impossible rescue mission over a frozen ocean to save a group of trapped miners after a remote diamond mine collapses.

CODE Entertainment will fully finance the movie. CODE’s Al Corley, Bart Rosenblatt, and Eugene Musso will produce, along with Lee Nelson and David Tish of Envision Media Arts. Jonathan Dana will executive produce, along with Lisa Wilson and Myles Nestel of The Solution. David Buelow of EMA will also be executive producer.

“We are thrilled and fortunate to be working with the extraordinary talents of Liam Neeson and Jonathan Hensleigh and the outstanding creative team they have assembled on this breathtaking adventure story,” says CODE’s Corley and Rosenblatt.

Said Hensleigh: “I’ve never been able to shake Clouzot’s Wages of Fear since I saw it as a kid because of the character emphasis during the action, and The Ice Road is in that tradition. And when it comes to bringing intelligence and soul to an action adventure film, Liam Neeson is incomparable.”

Storyline:
When the Katka Diamond Mine collapses trapping 42 men deep below the surface, the mine safety supervisor, Tully, acts quickly to set a rescue plan into motion. When Tully is unsuccessful in getting help from the Canadian Air Force for a rescue mission so he decides the only way to get the necessary equipment needed to the collapsed tunnel is on the dangerous Ice Road. Jim Goldenrod, head of Goldenrod Trucking in Winnipeg, is contacted to put together a team to cross the treacherous road. Mike and Gurty, two truckers from North Dakota’s Nodak Trucking are recruited, along with Tantoo, a First Nation Cree Indian female activist and sister of the miner Cody who is stuck underground. As these four experienced truckers take to the ice, they encounter more issues than just the cracking ice beneath the 80,000lb rigs they are driving. With limited oxygen, the miners wonder how soon help will get there, as no one has ever survived more than 29 hours under permafrost…
