Netflix and Canada’s Showcase have picked up a second season of Travelers, their original time-traveling sci-fi series starring Eric McCormack, for premiere in 2017. Production on Season 2 of the Canadian-made drama started filming in March in Vancouver. Netflix, which carries Travelers globally except for Canada, will debut Season 2 following the series’ second-season airing on Showcase this fall.

Travelers creator and writer Brad Wright (Stargate SG-1, Stargate: Atlantis, SGU) is set to return for Season 2, along with stars McCormack, Jared Abrahamson, Nesta Cooper, Reilly Dolman, Patrick Gilmore and MacKenzie Porter.

Travelers is set hundreds of years from now when the last surviving humans discover the means of sending consciousness back through time, directly into people in the 21st century. These “travelers” assume the lives of seemingly random people, while secretly working as teams to perform missions in order to save humanity from a terrible future.

Season 2 picks up on the group’s realization that their missions might have altered the future in ways they did not predict.

Travelers, which debuted in Canada in October 2016 was the highest-rated new fall series across Canadian Specialty, according to Numeris data. The series’ first season was released by Netflix in December 2016.

Just What The Doctor Ordered!

Mike Li  is shooting a role on the ABC TV Pilot ‘The Good Doctor‘.

Beau Garrett (Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce) is set for a key series-regular role opposite Richard Schiff and Freddie Highmore in The Good Doctor, ABC’s medical drama pilot from House creator David Shore and Hawaii Five-O co-star Daniel Dae Kim.

Written by Shore based on a South Korean format and directed by Seth Gordon,The Good Doctor centers on Dr. Shaun Murphy (Highmore), a young surgeon with Savant syndrome who is recruited into the pediatric surgical unit of a prestigious hospital. Garrett will play Jessica Preston, a hospital board member who is a friend of Dr. Glassman (Schiff) and sides with him as he presents his protégé, Dr. Shaun Murphy, to the board. Garrett plays Phoebe on Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce, which recently wrapped its third season. Schiff will play Dr. Ira Glassman, President of the San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital. Glassman, a good man who wasn’t always a good man, is advocating for Murphy’s hire. He has mentored the young doctor since he was 16 and admits that Shaun is like a son to him, so Shaun’s appointment is very person.

The question will arise: can a person who doesn’t have the ability to relate to people actually save their lives?

Lea Matina is busy filming a role in the pilot “The Trustee“.

Orange Is the New Black alumna Laverne Cox has been tapped as the co-lead alongside Meaghan Rath in The Trustee, ABC’s comedic one-hour pilot  The Walking Dead alum Michael Cudlit and The Mentalist alum Tim Kang also co-star.

Written by Scherick and Ronn and directed by Michael Engler, The Trustee is described as a fun, female buddy cop comedy about Eliza Radley (Rath), a driven but stubborn detective who finds unlikely help from her precinct’s trustee, Amanda Jones (Cox) a larger-than-life ex-con finishing out her prison sentence doing menial tasks for the police department. Though these two have completely opposing views on crime and punishment, a highly entertaining and successful partnership is born.

Francisco In A Real Life Drama…

Congratulations to Francisco Cano for booking a role in the Lifetime MOW, “Menendez”.

Nico Tortorella (Younger), Myko Olivier (Glee) and Benito Martinez (American Crime) round out the lead cast in Lifetime’s original movie about the Menendez brothers’ infamous double-murder case.

Tortorella and Olivier will play brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez, respectively, and Martinez will play their father Jose Menendez. They join previously announced Courtney Love, who plays mother Kitty Menendez.

Based on the true story, the movie explores the inner lives and motivation behind the murders of entertainment executive Jose Menendez and his wife Kitty at the hands of their sons Lyle and Erik in 1989. In the months that followed the killings, Lyle and Erik spent their inheritance lavishly, adding to investigators’ suspicions that they were involved in the parents’ deaths. After months of guilt consumed Erik, he confessed to the murders to his psychologist, leading to the eventual arrests of him and older brother Lyle.

Their Los Angeles trial became a national sensation as the public devoured court testimony and the brothers testified that the murders were driven by a lifetime of sexual abuse by their father. After a mistrial and deadlocked jury, the brothers were later re-tried and convicted of two counts of first-degree murder and sentenced to life without parole. Erik and Lyle remain incarcerated today, serving their time in separate prisons nearly 30 years since murdering their parents.

One Hell Of A Role…

Parker Brando has booked a role on Lucifer, episode #221.

Lucifer is an American fantasy police procedural comedy-drama television series developed by Tom Kapinos that premiered on Fox on January 25, 2016. Fox renewed the series for a second season, which premiered on September 19, 2016.

On February 13, 2017, Fox renewed the series for a third season of 22 episodes.

Based on characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg, this series follows Lucifer, the original fallen angel, who has become dissatisfied with his life in hell. After abandoning his throne and retiring to Los Angeles, Lucifer indulges in his favorite things (women, wine and song) — until a murder takes place outside of his upscale nightclub. For the first time in billions of years, the murder awakens something unfamiliar in Lucifier’s soul that is eerily similar to compassion and sympathy. Lucifer is faced with another surprise when he meets an intriguing homicide detective named Chloe, who appears to possess an inherent goodness — unlike the worst of humanity, to which he is accustomed. Suddenly, Lucifer starts to wonder if there is hope for his soul.
