A Korean Saga…

Yuki Morita will be filming a role on Pachinko AKA Eleos an upcoming drama television series. It is set to air on Apple TV+ in 2021.

The anticipated epic international drama series based on Min Jin Lee’s bestselling novel, will film on multiple continents.

Deadline Hollywood reported in August 2018 that Apple Inc. had obtained the series and in April 2019 that it was given a series order.

Soo Hugh (The Terror) who created the vision for the series will act as showrunner, writer, and executive producer for the series with Min Jin Lee, also executive producing. The production company, Media Res, would also produce alongside Hugh. In October 2020, South Korean filmmaker Kogonada and Justin Chon were announced to be executive producers and both will separately direct four episode of the series, with the former directing the pilot.

Pachinko chronicles the hopes and dreams of four generations of a Korean immigrant family. Epic in scope, intimate in tone, the story begins with a forbidden love and crescendos into a sweeping saga that journeys between Korea, Japan and America to tell the unforgettable story of war and peace, love and loss, triumph and reckoning. The series will be told in three languages: Korean, Japanese and English.

Hugh most recently executive produced and served as co-showrunner for The Terror. Her previous credits include the series The Killing and The Whispers.

Late last year, Apple announced the cast members for the multilingual drama – to be told in Japanese, English and Korean.

Hallyu actor Lee MinHo was cast as Hansu.

Lee MinHo is the first Korean celebrity to have reached 20 million followers on Instagram and Facebook. He is also the most followed Korean actor on Instagram. The actor acted in popular dramas such as “Boys Over Flowers” (2009), “City Hunter” (2011), “The Heirs” (2013), “The Legend of the Blue Sea” (2016), and “The King: Eternal Monarch” (2020).

Jin Ha (“Devs“, “Love Life“), Anna Sawai (“Ninja Assassin“), MinHa Kim, Soji Arai (“Legacies“), and Kaho Minami (“Oh Lucy“) are the leads along with Lee MinHo.
